Cuc Guard

Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV)

  • What Is Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV)?
  • Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects cucumber plants, causing leaf mottling, reduced plant vigor, and significant yield loss. CGMMV is difficult to control, and effective prevention tools are extremely limited.
  • How Can CGMMV Be Prevented in Cucumber Plants?
  • Preventing CGMMV requires early action and effective biological crop protection products. CucGuard® is one of the most effective solutions currently available to growers for reducing CGMMV infection.
  • When applied correctly, CucGuard has been shown to reduce CGMMV infection by up to 90%, helping protect crop health and maintain yield potential.
  • How Does CucGuard Work Against Cucumber Diseases?
  • CucGuard works by penetrating the cucumber leaf surface and activating the plant’s natural defense responses. This strengthens resistance against CGMMV and other common cucumber plant diseases, including cucumber leaf diseases and viral infections.
  • When Should CucGuard Be Applied for Best Results?
  • For optimal performance, CucGuard should be applied during the propagation stage. Best results are also achieved by exposing a young plant nodule prior to application and evenly applying the product with a hand sprayer to ensure proper absorption.
  • Is CucGuard a Biological Crop Protection Product?
  • Yes. CucGuard is a biological crop protection product designed to help manage common cucumber problems, including:
  • Cucumber leaf problems
  • Common diseases of cucumber plants
  • Cucumber bacterial diseases
  • Cucumber bugs and diseases
  • Cucumber diseases and their control

Test Methods

Application method:

The cucumber seedlings were transplanted on November 7, 2025.

Method #1: Only prune and spray into wound, no off the cart spray.

Method #2: Slab drench, no off the cart spray.

Method #3: Control

Method #4: Plants sprayed upon arrival, then prune & sprayed into the wound. Twice. Rest of the greenhouse.
Results:

The vaccine efficacy was calculated by comparing the disease infection rate in the control to that of a vaccinated group using the following formula.
Vaccine efficacy = (control infection rate – treatment infection rate)/control infection rate X 100%.
